About Me

My name is Jacqui Young and I have been a freelance outdoor educator for the last 20 years and have a passion for water safety.  I live in Cumbria – the Lake District - but my work takes me to interesting places all around the UK and abroad.

I am a keen mountaineer, having an International Mountain Leader and a Winter Mountain leader qualification but love being around water and have developed canoe, kayak, sailing and lifesaving skills.

I can teach and train the Royal lifesaving society (RLSS) National Water safety Management programme (NWSMP), National Pool lifeguard (NLPQ), Open Water Lifeguard (OWL), National rescue award for swimming teachers and coachers (NRASTC).

I am a member of the Kendal Mountain Rescue Team and love to go mountain biking in my spare time. My current CV is below.

  • PERSONAL STATEMENT

    I have been working in the outdoor education sector for over 15 years and have built a reputation of being a reliable and trustworthy person who will provide good support and experience for any course or activity, home or abroad. I have a very good working relationship with all my employers and provide a high level of service for each piece of work I am involved in whether this is in the UK or overseas. I am happy working with any age group from the primary groups to the more challenging youth groups and with adult development training groups. I am a trusted pair of hands in any organisation.

    Water safety Courses – I am a trainer and assessor for the Royal Lifesaving society (RLSS) and can provide courses in Lifesaving Survive and Save, National Pool Lifeguard courses (NLPQ), Open Water Lifeguard (OWL), National Water Safety Management course (NWSMP) and National rescue award for swimming teachers and coaches (NRASTC). With these courses I provide a high level of water safety training & first aid including infant, child and adults CPR. I can also train and assess the use of an AED.

    Mere Mountains, Casualty Care – I provide first aid courses up to 16 hours in length for a wide range of client groups based in the Lake District.

    Interests - I am a member of the Kendal Mountain Rescue Team.

    I am involved in Kendal Lifesaving club where I train the RLSS Survive and Save Awards. In my spare time I like to get out on my mountain bike. I love travelling and my biggest adventure was travelling round world for 18 months independently.
